Lunch Dialogue with the Toddler.

Here's a little light-hearted story I thought I'd share...

Last week, my toddler and I were sitting at the kitchen table eating lunch. She was eating peas and pasta.

Me: "Do you like peas?"
Toddler: "Mm-hm."
Me: "Are they yummy?"
Toddler: "Mm-hm."
Me: "Are they green?"
Toddler: "Mm-hm."

Toddler: "I like green. I like yellow. I like purple. They're my favorite."

A few minutes later, as I was rinsing my plate in the sink, the toddler let out a big cry. Turns out, she bit her finger while she was eating her pasta.

I hold her and console her in between gasps and crying.

Toddler: "Doctor kit (gasping), I need my doctor kit!"

(Her 'doctor kit' is a flimsy plastic stethoscope that we keep in her dress-up bin.)

I retrieved her dress-up bin. She puts on her stethoscope and she listens to her finger. I listen to her finger. She listens to her finger again. I kiss her finger.

Toddler: "I want to be a princess."

She puts on her tiara.

Toddler: "Look in mirror!"

We step into the bathroom and she laughs at herself in the mirror.

Toddler: "Wash my finger in sink!"

We turn on the water.

Toddler: "I need soap!"

We dry her hands and leave the bathroom.

Toddler: "Thanks, Mommy. I feel better now."

Good thing we had the stethoscope. And the tiara.

    1. Haha, yes, it has its moments! She says the funniest things sometimes. Sometimes I want a whole house full of them; other times, I am pretty sure she is going to be an only child...
